Eye Exams
A full eye examination that checks your prescription and the health of your eyes.
A friendly staff member will start the exam with a computerized automated refraction and eye pressure testing. You will then see the doctor for your examination. The exam will start off with a thorough history of your previous eye exams, medications and family medical history. The doctor will then check your eyeglass prescription for distance and near/computer vision. A detailed ocular health assessment follows, where cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease and a host of other conditions are evaluated. Pupillary dilation may be required. The doctor will then summarize the results and provide a written prescription. Your optometrist can also prescribe medications to treat eye infections and other eye conditions. We have digital retinal imaging to monitor your retina for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, and we perform MTO (Ministry of Transport) vision assessments and Esterman visual field testing.
